Walk of Love

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO GIVE FREE LUNCHES AND HELP WITH RECREATION FOR INNER CITY KIDS AT SUMMER BREAK!

Bring your family, missions group, small group, church group, youth group or business team to serve free lunch and give acts of kindness to kids here at Nashville’s largest inner city community!  For SEVEN WEEKS we give thousands of lunches to impoverished but excited children who will not have the food security of lunch from school due to summer break. WE ALSO HAVE LOTS OF FUN!!

Mondays through Fridays, we lead children to the playgrounds to get lunch and play games. On Saturdays we have our traditional Walk of Love by packing hundreds of bags of food in our community center and taking the food to each home.

Volunteer Duties (Mondays through Fridays):

  1. Set up and take down of canopies and lunch grates at the playground.
  2. Tour the 801 home community with Papa Joe and his team leaders as they use megaphones to alert the kids that it’s lunch time!
  3. Give lunches to hundreds of children and parents.
  4. Play fun games with kids: jumprope, kickball, basketball, face painting, races, etc.
  5. Encourage and pray for children and parents.
  6. Escort children to and from the playground/lunch site.
  7. Clean-up lunch site.

The Walk of Love is an Elijah’s Heart outreach ministry whose purpose is to bring food and supplies to families living in Nashville and other city’s poorest communities.

Each month we are blessed to take food and necessities to hundreds of poor and at-risk children and parents.

Children need our help…right now!

IT’S A WONDERFUL TIME TO GIVE!

Several years ago, while Denise and he were visiting a single mother with six children, Papa Joe noticed that no toilet paper was in the bathroom. There was a Yellow Pages phone book with a third of the pages torn out. The children were using the Yellow Pages as toilet paper. This type of poverty should not be found in communities in a country so blessed with resources.

Please go to our donate page and give as your heart of love compels you here online or through mail.

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!

Papa Joe and Denise personally invite you to visit Music City Nashville to hand deliver food and other items directly to the children and families in entire low income inner city communities. If you or your group are interested in volunteering at upcoming events, email us at walkoflove@elijahsheart.com and tell us about your family, group, church, business or organization. We have volunteers of all ages and backgrounds come together and “tour” these communities to not only meet practical needs but to touch lives with love in action.

Through the Walk of Love, Papa Joe, Denise and the Elijah’s Heart team has found and aided thousands of children and their families and with your help many more lives can be impacted.

Whether you are unloading food boxes, going door to door with supplies, or just coming along with your family to support, your presence is valuable and expresses love to the people we serve. Even a smile can touch someone’s life!

Our vision is to expand this movement of love not just to other cities but to other nations!
